Travelling

I just realized that I've been posting lots of traveling story lately... Hmmm, in fact I love to travel and traveling makes me happy :-))

I always wanted to involve in travel agency business, hotels, car rental etc... I have a dream also to open a hotel in Tibet... hahaha... a bit insane and far fetched... but as long as I keep the dream alive, I know one day, maybe 10 years from now I'll make dreams come true... but now have to struggle a bit more... it's totally worth it... result doesn't really matter, most important is we try our best... The most important thing is to learn from the experience and be a better person from the experience we learn :-)...

Trip to Kota Kinabalu Day 1

Bought the ticket few months back when Air Asia has the Free Seat Promotion. It's been many years since I last step foot on the Land Below the Wind.

Friday 5 Sept, 08, 1730 hours was the flight to Kota Kinabalu (KK). I was so excited. I took a half day off to pack but I dozed off till 4.30pm and taxi would come at 5pm. Story of my life, everything is last minute. When I reached KK I realized I forgot to bring few essential things but now I couldnt recall what, coz it's no big deal. Take it easy, just chill and enjoy life man, dont put too much pressure on ourselves and stressed out. Life is too short for all these negative energy ;-)

Before I went, I contacted Imperial College course mate and we're gonna meet up for some booze. Hahaha. It's also been a while since I last met him, few years ago when he and his mum and sisters came to KL. Long time and time flies by so fast we didn't realize it's been gone. Scary.

Reached KK Terminal 2 airport at around 9.45pm, aircraft touched down 15 mins earlier. It's so typical of air asia - speeding. hahaha. Came out of the airport, met my friend, and first thing we did was heading to Tanjung Aru. I missed Tanjung Aru very much. It's where I enjoyed drinking coconut drink the most. Sitting by the beach, wind blowing gently and enjoying the last 'hurray' of sunlight before completely sumberged in the sea. It was also my school of Form 4 and Form 5 situated. In school sport day, marathon was mandatory for everybody. Bloody 10km, we run around Tanjung Aru town, to the beach and back to school. Such a torture. The second year I think I 'call in sick' or something, couldn't recall clearly now.

But now Tanjung Aru is not the same as 15 years ago. At that time there were only few food stalls and was really like the kampung place. It felt like ages ago, nowadays it looks like a proper developed attraction for tourists, with gated parking, 'modern' restaurant and even the hawker center looks descent. Where was my coconut at those kampung stall? Sigh... but it was still good to sit by the beach where I sat on the same spot many many years ago :-)...

Let's talk about KK. It's clean and tidy, drivers are polite, people are still friendly. The land below the wind, it's a little busy town yet you can find peace amidst the town itself. It's busy at the same time laid back. It's unique. The energy of the land tells me that people who live there are kind, straight forward, more decisive than other parts of Malaysia. I guess because of this energy from the motherland the ladies are more beautiful than other parts of Malaysia as well... I fall in love with KK already... hahaha... well, I know only few or none understand what I'm saying here :-D...

Well, day 1 is from 10pm on Friday till 12am of Saturday... My story continues... No photo here as photography session started only on the second day hahaha...

My Melaka Trip

I didn't manage to get ticket to Hatyai as all train tickets on Friday night (29 Aug 08) were sold out. Sigh... there goes my adventure trip into the drain... was disappointed... what should I do during this long weekend? I wanted to get out of KL...

Chatted with a colleague. I said might be going to Melaka and she said she wanted to go as well. Go for makan makan trip. Haha, good idea. And my manager would be balik kampung on Sunday, so would try to catch him there.

When I woke up on Sat, 30 Aug, 08, i felt so lethargic. So Sat it was 'homely' day.

Sunday finally came. Was energetic and looking forward to this trip. After 2 hours drive, Melaka, here we are. Manager took us to try the fish ball kuey teow... it was nice, but instead of the famous fish ball, both my colleague and I agreed that the pork ball tastes better. Haha...

And so nice of manager that he actually became the tour guide, drove us here and there visiting the famous Hang Li Poh's Well, St. John's Fort, Tan Kim Hock, Jonker Street, Satay Celup place - Ban Li Siang (Something like that lah) and last but not least, his apartment near the port, which he bought about 20 years ago (very proud statement) :-p. Manager told us that during his University day he used to be the tour guide for his friends as well. Guess our visit brought back good memories of his younger years. hahaha...

My colleague was apparently more excited about the trip than me as well. She has gathered so much information on --- what else as Malaysian? FOOD !!! From the start, she was saying her sister told her where where where can eat this this this, another friend told here where where where can eat that that that... At the end, we were like, WAHHH, do we have the stomach to eat all those delicious food? Hmmm...

At the end when we left Melaka, we were satisfied with the away from KL trip. and we managed to try almost everything in our list except errr, the most famous Chicken Rice Ball (the queue was too long too scary). Once in a while we all need to 'bleed off' pressure from our work and daily life. We need to take a break once in a while to refresh ourselves and be ready to face challenges that lie ahead :-)

Laksamana Cheng Ho --- Perhaps my best buddy in previous life... hahaha...
